Nathaniel Filly Comes To the Fore In Fillies' Trial

is a rare purchase for Juddmonte, but she is unsurprisingly a notably-bred one and obviously after this performance also a very talented one. If this Oaks trial comes too close to the G1 Epsom Oaks with this year's preps being delayed due to a late Easter, that June 2 Classic will be missing a potentially fascinating contender such was the manner of her display in the rain-softened ground. Doing much the best on her side of the track when second to this week's subsequent Listed Michael Seely Memorial S. disappointment Dancing Breeze (Ire) (New Approach {Ire}) over a mile on good-to-firm ground at Newmarket's Craven meeting Apr. 19, the chestnut showed here that she had thrived in the interim to suggest a big future lies ahead. Held up in fifth early by a confident Ryan Moore, she cruised to the fore at the top of the straight as the early leader Aljezeera started to suffer on unsuitably easy ground. It was the Sandown handicap winner Flood Warning who emerged with the biggest threat with three furlongs remaining but Natavia was sent clear soon after and maintained a relentless gallop to the line. “Like a lot of trainers, I was worried about the ground and it is tough out there,” trainer Roger Charlton commented. “It is not my normal pattern to go with a maiden to a race like this, but I had been very pleased with her work. The ground affected the others a lot, but they were well spread out.”

Natavia becomes the third black-type performer for the unraced Our Queen of Kings, with the key one being the impressive G1 Sun Chariot S. heroine Spinning Queen (GB) (Spinning World). Her shock nine-length destruction of Soviet Song (Ire) (Marju {Ire}) and Alexander Goldrun (Ire) (Gold Away {Ire}), with Red Evie (Ire) (Intikhab) tailed off, in that 2006 Newmarket mile contest run on good-to-soft ground is hard to forget and she has gone on to produce the listed winners Trade Commissioner (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) and Gallipot (GB) (Galileo {Ire}). Our Queen of Kings is a half to four stakes scorers headed by the GI Hollywood Derby hero and sire Labeeb (GB) and his full-brother Fanmore, successful in the GII San Luis Obispo H. and runner-up in the GI Arlington Million and GI Hollywood Gold Cup. The other two are the G2 International S. winner Alrassaam (GB) (Zafonic) and Madame L'Enjoleur (L'Enjoleur) who was third in the GI Hollywood Starlet S. Alrassaam's full-sister Al Hasnaa produced the Listed Prix de Reux scorer Tenenbaum (GB) (Authorized {Ire}) and the Listed Premio Vittorio Crespi winner Aischa (GB) (Giant's Causeway), who in turn is the dam of the G2 Premio Carlo Vittadini winner Principe Adepto (Dubawi {Ire}). Our Queen of Kings also has an-as yet unnamed 2-year-old colt by New Approach (Ire).
