Murphy To Train In Newmarket

Amy Murphy

Amy Murphy, who most recently served as assistant trainer to Luca Cumani, will join the Newmarket training rank this autumn, having taken up residence at Hamilton Stables on the Hamilton Road.

Murphy grew up around horses at her father, Paul Murphy's, Wychnor Park Stud in Staffordshire, and rode out while studying for her Horse Management diploma at Hartbury College. Murphy then spent several seasons with trainer Tom Dascombe before traveling to Australia to work for Gai Waterhouse. She returned to Britain in 2013 to take up the pupil assistant role for Cumani, and has been assistant trainer at Bedford House Stables since last January.

“Training is something I've wanted to do from the outset and it is what my heart has been set on from an early age,” said Murphy. “All of my family have been very supportive and I am very fortunate to be training a few of our beautifully bred homebreds.”

Cumani added, “It has been a pleasure to have Amy working as my assistant for the past two years. Amy is very dedicated and hardworking and she is well prepared for her new career, as well as any assistant that I have ever had–and I have had some good ones.”
