+SURRENDER NOW (f, 2, Morning Line–Surrender, by Stormy Atlantic) became the second winner for her freshman sire (by Tiznow) with this clear-cut success. Sent off the 5-2 second choice behind piping-hot favorite Tyfosha (Flatter), partially off a recent best-of-13 half-mile in :46 3/5 from the gate at San Luis Rey Downs June 2, Surrender Now landed in a stalking second, with Tyfosha making ground to her outside as they hit the turn. With the chalk feeling the whip nearing the quarter pole, Surrender Now looked to always be traveling much better of the duo and cruised in a two-length winner. Surrender is the dam of a yearling colt by Fed Biz (Giant's Causeway) named Tyrannical Rex and was most recently bred to Violence. Surrender Now's third dam MGSW Mackie (Summer Squall–Glowing Tribute) was a half-sister to GI Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero and went on to produce Japanese G3 victor Seeking the Best (Ire) (Seeking the Gold) and the aptly named GSW Mr. Mellon (Red Ransom). Mackie, a $550,000 Keeneland November weanling in 1993, was purchased by Britton House Stud for a sales-topping $5 million at Keeneland January in 2000. She later fetched 1.6 million gns in foal to Unbridled's Song at Tattersalls December in 2006. Bernardino Charm, a half-brother to Cool Coal Man, gave Morning Line his first winner in Russia June 4. Bought back on a bid of $19,000 as a KEENOV weanling, she made $40,000 as a KEESEP yearling. Surrender Now breezed an eighth of a mile in :10 and was purchased by these connections for $220,000 at this year's BARMAR sale, the second most expensive of 13 juveniles to sell this season.
