More Than Ready's Rushing Fall Wires the Jenny Wiley

Rushing Fall | Coady

By

Entering Saturday's running of the GI Coolmore Jenny Wiley S. at Keeneland, only two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan (Wiseman's Ferry, seven) and the talented galloper and producer Take Charge Lady (Dehere, four) had won three or more black-type events at the iconic Lexington oval. Making her first start of the season, eFive Racing's 'TDN Rising Star' Rushing Fall (More Than Ready) joined that elite group under a perfectly rated ride from the red-hot Javier Castellano, giving trainer Chad Brown three wins in the race in the last five years and his second in succession. Champion Sistercharlie (Ire) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) took down top honors last spring.

Making her first appearance since cutting out all the fractions in this track's GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup last October, Rushing Fall jumped alertly from gate two and took the field under the line for the first time as Princess Warrior (Midshipman), fourth in the QE II, rolled forward to provide some token pressure through an opening quarter in :23.81. Able to continue to control the pace, Rushing Fall was allowed soft internal sectionals of :24.60 and :25.21, all under her own steam, and was not asked a serious question until drifting a bit wide off the home corner. A bit tardy in switching her leads, Rushing Fall was confronted by Got Stormy (Stormy Atlantic) to her outside at the eighth pole, but turned back that bid, following which her stablemate Rymska (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}) took a crack at her with a dive down towards the fence. But Rushing Fall had all the answers and sealed the deal with a final 110 yards that were clocked in :5.85 seconds.

Rushing Fall parlayed a victory in this track's GIII Jessamine S. into a second straight success for eFive in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in 2017, then returned to action with a popular tally in the GII Appalachian S. here last April. Beaten a neck into second by California raider Toinette (Scat Daddy) in Churchill's GIII Edgewood S., she bounced back to land the GII Lake Placid S. at Saratoga before closing the season in the QE II.

Pedigree Notes:

A half-sister to the good SW & MGSP distaff dirt sprinter Milam (Street Sense), Rushing Fall is a maternal granddaughter of GSP Marie J, the dam of GSP Sisti's Pride (Forestry). Rushing Fall's MSW third dam produced SP Bright Feather (Fappiano), whose son Albert the Great (Go For Gin) won the GI Jockey Club Gold Cup. Autumnal is the dam of the 3-year-old filly Queen Eli (Candy Ride {Arg}) but has not produced a live foal since.
