NOOSE (c, 2, More Than Ready–Cowgirl Mally {GSP}, by Gone West) was a tenacious debut winner beneath the Twin Spires Friday. The chestnut worked four furlongs in :48 1/5 (6/68) June 21 and was off at 4-1 odds. He tucked in along the rail beneath Corey Lanerie just behind the pacesetters in fifth through a :22.29 opening quarter. Locked and loaded on the turn for home, the Joseph Sutton homebred shot through an opening along the inside in the stretch and punched home nicely to register a five-length score over favored Elusive d'Oro (Elusive Quality). Kowalski (Will Take Charge) rallied smartly after a slow start to complete the trifecta. Cowgirl Mally, third in the 2009 GIII Schuylerville S. for these same connections, was a $170,000 KEESEP yearling purchase.
