Ryan Moore has been named the recipient of the Longines World's Best Jockey Award, an honour he has won twice in the last three years.

Moore won eight of the world's top 100 Group or Grade I races in 2016, those wins coming in five countries on six different horses. They include the Longines Hong Kong Mile (Maurice {Jpn}), Longines Hong Kong Vase (Highland Reel {Ire}), Dubai Turf Sponsored by DP World (Real Steel {Jpn}), King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Sponsored by QIPCO (Highland Reel), Qatar Sussex S. (The Gurkha {Ire}), Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Found {Ire}), Queen Elizabeth II Sponsored by QIPCO (Minding {Ire}), and Tenno Sho Autumn (Maurice).

The award is decided by points earned for finishing in the top three in the world's top 100 races, and Moore earned 166 points, the most ever since the award was created. Christophe Soumillon was a distant second with 98 points, while Australian jockey Hugh Bowman, the regular rider of Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}), was third with 94 points.

Moore will be recognized at a ceremony held during the gala dinner of the Longines International Races on Dec. 9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
