Minding Back In The Mooresbridge

Minding | Racing Post

Seven Group 1 successes and two Classics may just be the tip of the iceberg as last year's Cartier Horse of the Year Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) makes her comeback in the G2 Camelot Irish EBF Mooresbridge S. at Naas on Monday. Derrick Smith's G1 1000 Guineas and G1 Epsom Oaks heroine, who also won last summer's G1 Pretty Polly S. and G1 Nassau S., did something rare in reverting to a mile on British Champions Day and beating the best in that category in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S., underlining her flexibility as well as her obvious class.

“She's in good form,” Aidan O'Brien commented. “We've been happy with her since last year, but she's just ready to start.”

Minding, who has never been off the board in 12 tries and also won the G1 Moyglare Stud S. and G1 Dubai Fillies' Mile at two, goes for her eighth black-type win and faces just four rivals here.

Interestingly, Ballydoyle have persisted with Johannes Vermeer (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) after his interrupted 3-year-old season which saw him race once when third in the G3 Darley S. over nine furlongs at Newmarket in October. The 2015 G1 Criterium International winner has a clean slate this term and can be measured against a race-fit, solid yardstick in the veteran Brendan Brackan (Ire) (Big Bad Bob {Ire}).
