J Stables, Head of Plains Partners and Michael E. Kisber's Grade I/Group 1 winner Mind Your Biscuits (Posse) was voted the 2016 New York-bred Horse of the Year, it was announced Tuesday. The chestnut colt, who won the GI Malibu S. The other equine multiple honoree was GI Ballerina S. heroine Haveyougoneaway (Congrats). The mare, bred by Andy and Susan Beadnell and trained by Tom Morley for owners Gary Barber and Sequel Racing, was voted New York's champion female sprinter and champion older dirt female.

Chester and Mary Broman were selected as New York's top breeders for the fourth time after campaigning multiple stakes winners Highway Star (Girolamo) and Bar of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro) in 2016. Rudy Rodriguez took home top trainer honors and Irad Ortiz, Jr. was named the Jockey of the Year.

The New York-bred champions were announced at the annual awards banquet of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc., held Apr. 3 at the Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, New York. The winners were chosen by a ballot of New York turf writers, handicappers, chart callers and racing analysts. A complete list of honorees can be found here.
