+TATTERS TO RICHES (c, 2, Union Rags&log=">Union Rags–Poco Mas, by A.P. Indy), tied for the second-priciest lot at OBS April after selling for a cool $1 million, took all the money for his debut at Del Mar and rewarded his backers with a professional victory. Showing a string of sharp Santa Anita workouts before sizzling five furlongs on the local main in :59 2/5 (2/76) July 23, the bay was hammered at the windows throughout and went off at 3-5. Breaking in midpack, he was sent through between rivals to show the way narrowly from second timer Jungle Warfare (Animal Kingdom) through a :22.70 quarter. That pair continued to do battle, well in front of the rest around the turn, before Tatters to Riches started to shake away after straightening. Jungle Warfare gave game chase, but was on his left lead, as the favorite held firm late to score by 1 1/4 lengths. There was a 9 3/4-length gap back to third. The winner, just a $60,000 KEESEP yearling, blossomed into a seven-figure juvenile after breezing a furlong in :10 1/5. Tatters to Riches is a half to Carinosa (Arg) (Tiznow), GSW & G1SP0Arg, $113,318. His dam foaled a filly by Tiznow Jan. 30 before being bred to Street Sense. Stakes-winning and Grade I-placed second dam Adel (Strawberry Road {Aus}) produced Canada's champion turf horse of 201and GISW Interpol (English Channel). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $36,000.
