Midnight Lute Filly Scores for Lael at Saratoga

Midnight Lute

5th-SAR, $83,000, Msw, 8-20, 2yo, f, 1 1/16mT, 1:43.23, fm.

LAYLA NOOR (f, 2, Midnight Lute&log=">Midnight Lute–Senada {SW, $215,021}, by Pulpit) tracked the pace and took over late to graduate second out at Saratoga. An even fifth in an off-the-turf sprint spot on debut here July 27, the Lael Stables homebred was made the 3-1 second choice adding Lasix and getting on her intended surface here. Coming away well to sit second just off of a longshot pacesetter through fractions of :24.21 and :49.26, the dark bay wore down that rival at the sixteenth pole and edged clear before holding off the closing bid of Lemoona (Lemon Drop Kid) for a 3/4-length success. The winner's dam was an 11-12 furlong turf specialist who ran third in the local GIII Glens Falls S. in 2011, while second dam Owsley (Harlan) was a MGSW on turf who captured the Glens Falls here in 2002. Senada foaled a filly by Kitten's Joy this season before being bred to Curlin. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $52,290. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
