Critique | Sarah Andrew

CRITIQUE (f, 2, Midnight Lute&log=">Midnight Lute–Bemused, by Maria's Mon) took over at the three-eighths pole and never looked back, romping to a dominant graduation in an off-the-turfer at Saratoga. Second in another washed-off event over track and trip Aug. 13, the $155,000 Fasig-Tipton July purchased was backed to 6-5 favoritism to go one better here and tracked the pace from second through a :22.41 quarter. Sidling up alongside the leader midway on the turn, the gray willingly took charge passing a :45.87 half and blew the race apart in the stretch, cruising by some 13 lengths in 1:24.67. Lady by Choice (Shanghai Bobby) completed the exacta. The win was the 40th of the meet for trainer Todd Pletcher, tying a record set by Chad Brown last year and putting Pletcher two up on Brown for this season's training title. The victress shares a second dam with GISW and freshman sire Overanalyze (Dixie Union). Sales History: $80,000 Wlg '15 KEENOV; $155,000 Ylg '16 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $66,400. O-Paul P. Pompa, Jr.; B-AJ Suited LLC (KY); T-Todd A.
