Kelly's Humor captured a one-mile off-the-turf maiden event here July 23 and was let go at double-digit odds cutting back in distance for this first try against winners. In sharp contrast to her wire-to-wire graduation, the filly was allowed to settle well off the pace in ninth behind sharp fractions of :21.76 and :44.24. Angled widest to secure a clear path on the turn, she launched a prolonged rally and got up to win going away over favored Upset Brewing, who held on best of those close to the early pace. The winner has a yearling half-sister by Point of Entry.
