A $400,000 FTSAUG grad, Smart and Single earned a 99 BRIS figure winning off by 2 1/2 lengths sprinting six panels at Betfair Hollywood Park July 5. The Del Mar faithful were confident of a repeat performance, and at 1-5 odds, the handsome filly delivered. A stalking presence up the backstretch under Rafael Bejarano, she began to kick into gear at the quarter pole and took the lead soon after, and leveled out nicely in the final eighth to cruise under the wire six lengths to the good of Hot Affair. Smart and Single is the second foal from GI Test S. heroine Leave Me Alone, who was purchased as a broodmare, in foal to A.P. Indy, by Summerwind Farm's Jane Lyon for $1 million at the 2007 FTKNOV Sale. Leave Me Alone has a Tiznow yearling filly named Don't Go Away Mad and produced a full-brother to Smart and Single this spring named Stroke of Luck. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $72,600.
