Applauding had the crowd on its collective feet as she romped to a track-record setting victory in her career opener. Let go at 5-2, the blaze-faced chestnut bided her time off salty splits of :21.78 and :44.02 and went after the lead from between horses at the quarter pole. Garrett Gomez gave her a couple of taps, and the filly opened up, crossing the finish line nine lengths to the good. The final time for the six panels on the Poly was 1:07.76, taking three ticks off the track record. Sacristy (Pulpit) was second. Applauding was the most expensive of the 27 Congrats juveniles that sold at auction this year. Sales history: $50,000 yrl '10 OBSAUG; $370,000 2yo ‘11 FTFFEB. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,200.
