Sent off the lukewarm 2-1 favorite in his career opener, homebred Hoorayforhollywood tracked Cherryzapper (Ghostzapper) through an opening quarter in :21.48. He ranged alongside as they dashed through a half in :44.25, then engaged Meadow Road (Dixie Union), who had snuck through along the rail. Hoorayforhollywood had no trouble dispatching with that rival, and pulled away under a vigorous hand ride to win by 3 1/4 lengths. The dark bay is the first foal out of MGISW Hollywood Story, who was purchased by George Krikorian for $130,000 as a FTKJUL yearling in 2002, and went on to earn more than $1.1 million. Rothko (Arch) outfinished Meadow Road for second. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $32,400.
