  Alternation , C, 3, by Distorted Humor

1st Dam: Alternate (MSW & MGSP, $550,695), by Seattle Slew
2nd Dam: Strike a Balance, by Green Dancer
3rd Dam: Strike a Pose, by Iron Ruler

Alternation broke his maiden second out by seven lengths in his first route attempt at Remington Dec. 9, and returned to take an allowance by a head over GIII Southwest S. third-place finisher Elite Alex (Afleet Alex) in Hot Springs Jan. 15. The 8-5 choice bided his time after breaking last, well out of it and wide early behind splits of :23.52 and :47.13. He picked off horses around the bend and spun into the stretch a length in front, drawing off to a 3 1/4-length success over Smarty Jones S. runner-up Dreaminofthewin (Successful Appeal). Alernation's dam is a half to Peaks and Valleys (Mt. Livermore), a Canadian Horse of the Year and Champion three-year-old and MGISW. Lifetime Record: 4-3-0-1, $65,004.
