Palooza took plenty of action at the windows in her Sept. 3 debut at Saratoga, and proved her backers correct. Sort of. The chestnut dueled heads apart early on and crossed the line 1 1/4 lengths best, only to have her number taken down on a controversial decision by the stewards. She was pounded into 1-2 this time around and made no mistakes. Very sharp from the stalls, Palooza hooked up with Darley's Shoe Penny (Henny Hughes) and the duo covered an opening quarter in :21.83. With a swish of her tail, Shoe Penny called it quits midway on the turn, but Palooza was still blazing a trail up front, and hit the half in :45.03. Full of run into the final furlong, the $185,000 KEENOV weanling purchase continued to widen and was six lengths better than Chive Blossom (Unbridled's Song) past the post. Palooza is a 3/4-sister to Bold Angel (Cat Thief), SW; Texas Fever (Victory Gallop), GSW, and Saint Isabelle (Saint Liam), SP. Her dam is a 3/4-sister to GI Kentucky Derby hero Fusaichi Pegasus. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $40,600. O: Andrew Rosen & Georgica Stable | B: Hunter Valley Farm (KY) | T: Thomas Albertrani |
