  LONGCHAMP, 14.05, Mdn, 24,000, 2yo, f, 1mT, 1:45.90, gd/sf, 7, 7

Galikova (Fr), F, 2, by Galileo (Ire)

1st Dam: Born Gold, by Blushing Groom (Fr)
2nd Dam: Riviere d'Or, by Lyphard
3rd Dam: Gold River (Fr), by Riverman

Hot on the heels of the introduction of the exciting Maxios (GB) (Monsun {Ger}), Galikova added more spice to this card with a smooth debut in the mold of her brilliant half-sibling. Sent off the 9-5 joint favorite, the blaze-faced bay was keen early positioned close to soft fractions in second. Making smooth progress in the straight, the half-sister to Goldikova (Ire) (Anabaa), Hwt. 3yo-Fr at 7-9.5f, Ch. Female Turf Horse-US, Ch. Older Horse-Eur, Hwt Older Mare-Eng & Fr at 7-9.5f, MGISW-US, MG1SW-Fr & Eng, $4,876,280, was eased to the front with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining and kept on well under minimal encouragement to record an easy 1 1/2-length win from Shamardanse (Ire) (Shamardal). "Galikova is a beautiful filly which we've always liked, especially so her trainer, and we are delighted she won so well today," said the owner-breeders' racing manager Pierre-Yves Bureau. "She was born May 21 and there was no apparent reason why she's as precocious as she is. Obviously, she should improve and go on to even better things." Galikova is also a half-sister to Gold Sound (Fr) (Green Tune), GSW-Fr & SW-US, $370,850; Gold Round (Ire) (Caerleon), GSW-Fr; Born Something (Ire) (Caerleon), GSP-Fr & MSP-US, $153,270; and Red Tune (Fr) (Green Tune), GSP-Fr, $113,845. Lifetime Record: 1 start, 1 win, €12,000.
