Despite a lack of lofty entries, Saamidd still went postward at relatively short odds for this debut, and gave an opening performance to light up an otherwise murky afternoon. He was settled in midfield from the outset of this debut. Quickening to the front with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining, the 11-4 chance engaged turbo chargers from there to burst seven lengths clear of Yair Hill (Ire) (Selkirk) and win in highly impressive fashion. "Saamidd came here with quite a reputation and he didn't let me down," enthused jockey Frankie Dettori. "He gave me a good feel, although I don't know what he beat, but he did it in great style." The winner is from the family of champions Barathea (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) and Gossamer (GB) (Sadler's Wells). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, £4,857. O: Godolphin | B: Darley | T: Saeed bin Suroor |
