Wine Police, C, 2, by Speightstown

1st Dam: Deputy Cures Blues (MSW, $405,893), by War Deputy
2nd Dam: May Time, by Cure the Blues
3rd Dam: Sharmoon (Ire), by General Assembly

Wine Police, a $190,000 KEESEP yearling purchase, showed a solid worktab and was bet down to 5-2 from his 6-1 morning line. Breaking like a shot from the eight hole, the chestnut cleared the field with a :22.22 opening quarter, but didn't corner into the lane all that well. Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan gave him a few cracks to get straightened out, and the Robison colorbearer uncorked an impressive turn of foot en route to a 7 3/4-length triumph. The final time over the drying-out strip was two seconds faster than a New York-bred maiden earlier on the card over a muddy track, and was .23 off the track record set by J Be K (Silver Deputy) in 2007. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,000.
