  Woodbine, Race 7, Msw, 58,424, 2yo, 6fT, 1:09 2/5, fm

Stormy Rush, C, 2, by Stormy Atlantic

1st Dam: Willow Rush (SW, $145,120), by Wild Rush
2nd Dam: Reet Petite, by Maudlin
3rd Dam: Nap Trap, by Silent Screen

Bought back on a bid of $45,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton July sale, Stormy Rush breezed an eighth of a mile in :10.1 (video) for this year's OBSMAR sale and was knocked down for $210,000 as the second-last horse through the ring. In steady training since mid-May, the dark bay breezed five grassy furlongs in 1:00 2/5 July 11, and the word was out for the debut. With the leaders for the opening exchanges, Stormy Rush came back nicely to Jono Jones and allowed himself to tuck in behind the pace. With the rider merely looking for somewhere to run at the head of the stretch, Stormy Rush pounced on the frontrunners three wide and accelerated away to score by a widening 4 1/2 lengths as the 17-10 favorite. With the win, he stamps himself a legitimate candidate for a race like the GIII Summer S., a Breeders' Cup Challenge event in mid-September. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $32,425.
