Sovereign Default had compiled a nifty worktab for trainer Rick Violette Jr. at Aqueduct, but was sent off as the 5-2 second choice to 3-5 Stay Thirsty (Bernardini). The dark bay came away well from his outside post and went up to press the pace set by Scoville (Bernardini). He turned for home with the lead and was never seriously threatened by Stay Thirsty in the stretch on his way to a two-length victory. It was 10 3/4 lengths back to Punster (Distorted Humor), with Scoville tiring to fourth. Sales history: $77,000 wlng '08 KEENOV; $95,000 yrl '09 KEESEP; $110,000 RNA 2yo ‘10 OBSFEB.
