With several well-touted types and an experienced rival in Scorn (Seeking the Gold) to take on in this division won 12 months ago by the subsequent G1 Epsom Oaks heroine Sariska (GB) (Pivotal {GB}), Field Day was let go at 14-1 on her racecourse bow. Belying those odds by traveling easily throughout on the heels of the leaders on the far side, the homebred was asked to quicken running down into the "dip" by Martin Dwyer and responded instantly to reel in the long-time leader Scorn and assert under hand riding for a convincing 1 1/2-length success. The winner hails from the distinguished Weinstock family of Islington (Ire) and Greek Dance (Ire). Safina (GB) (Pivotal {GB}), the daughter of Russian Rhythm (Kingmambo), ran an encouraging debut to be a further 1 1/2 lengths back in third. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, £4,857. O: Ballymacoll Stud | B: Ballymacoll Stud | T: Brian Meehan |
