2nd Dam: Lady Golconda (Fr), by Kendor (Fr)
3rd Dam: Lady Sharp (Fr), by Sharpman (Ire)

Lope de Vega was the comfortable winner of an Aug. 26 newcomers' event at Deauville and enjoyed crowd confidence for this second go. He never gave his supporters a moment's worry as he confirmed the favorable impression of his debut score with another stylish performance. Slowest from the gate, Lope de Vega recovered to race in second until easing to the fore at halfway. Allowed an inch of rein approaching the final furlong, the 9-10 favorite surged clear before gearing down late to best Heaven's Heart (Ire) (Captain Rio {GB}) by an easy 2 1/2 lengths. "He looks like a really nice horse and we were very happy with the style of his victory," commented Gestut Ammerland's Racing Manager Crispin de Moubray. "He will now go for the [Oct. 4] G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere [over this course and distance]." Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, €29,000.
