Smart Seattle was legged up over the various gallops down at her trainer's Fair Hill base and was supported at debut odds of 9-1. Cozily placed at the fence and just in behind the dueling Raise the Kitty (Kitten's Joy) and favored Hatheer (Storm Cat), Smart Seattle traveled well into the stretch, but was boxed in with nowhere to go. Switched out sharply off heels by Jeremy Rose approaching the eighth pole, the homebred dug in determinedly and ran down Hatheer to score by a length. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,000.
