Hot Dixie Chick, F, 2, by Dixie Union

1st Dam: Above Perfection (GSW & GISP, $380,737), by In Excess (Ire)
2nd Dam: Something Perfect, by Somethingfabulous
3rd Dam: Happening, by Terrang

Hot Dixie Chick brought $340,000 as a yearling at FTSAUG and brought $435,000 earlier this year at FTFFEB, ranking as the highest-priced juvenile for her sire at auction in 2009. Favored in her May 14 career opener over a sloppy track, the dark bay battled for the lead, but succumbed to the late, wide challenge of Decelerator (Dehere) (video). She was 3-5 to go one better this time and did not disappoint. Breaking alertly, Hot Dixie Chick dashed through an opening quarter of :22.02 and took the turn like a barrel horse. Jockey Robby Albarado threw a cross at her in the lane and the favorite responded willingly, opening up to score by 5 3/4 lengths while establishing a new track record. Proud Zoe (Proud Accolade) earned second. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $39,085.
