Runner-up on debut over five furlongs at this track, Colonial was a length behind the filly Lixirova (Fr) (Slickly {Fr}) and four lengths ahead of the third without being stressed by Olivier Peslier. Maxime Guyon had the task of steering this time and the 7-10 pick made life easy by breaking well against the fence and showing natural dash to lead. Coaxed clear from before the furlong pole, the homebred drew away in impressive style to register a five-length success from Tall Chief (Ire) (Observatory). Colonial was produced by the Mr. Prospector mare Elizabeth Bay, a Group 3 winner in France and runner-up in the G1 Coronation S., and is a half-brother to Bayeux (Red Ransom), GSW & GISP-US, $317,737. Second dam Life at the Top (Seattle Slew) was a two-time Grade I winner in the States. Lifetime Record: 2 starts, 1 win, 1 place, €19,300. O: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum | B: Darley | T: Andre Fabre |
