Soberania, aided by a classy pedigree, arrived at the track with a reputation which invoked support down to even money favoritism at the booths and she gave connections and supporters alike no cause for concern by tearing up this debut. Breaking well from the gate, the crowd's selection raced in a stalking second until looming ever larger rounding the home turn. She eased to the front in early stretch and coasted clear of toiling rivals inside the final furlong to score by an impressive eight lengths from the slow-starting Majira (Fr) (Pentire {GB}). Soberania is very closely related to G1 Deutsches Derby winners Samum (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}) and Schiaparelli (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}); and to G1 Deutsches Derby runner-up and G1 Preis der Diana victress Salve Regina (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}).
