Checklist, the first foal out of 2004 GII Black-Eyed Susan S. and Delaware Oaks heroine Yearly Report, made a sparkling debut at the races here. In steady training at Palm Meadows since mid-November, the $400,000 KEESEP yearling purchase worked four furlongs from the gate in :48.65 Dec. 28. Let go at 5-1, he vied for the early lead through a :21.99 opening quarter after breaking from post 10. With Johnny Velazquez in the irons, he began to open daylight on the turn for home through a half mile in :44.91, and strolled home to score by a geared-down four lengths. More Than Willing (More Than Ready) completed the exacta as the 6-5 favorite. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $21,000.
