Malibu Bay was sent off at 7-1 in the maiden won by stable companion Soldier of Fortune (Ire) two years ago and broke well before settling behind the early leaders against the rail. Traveling strongly when pulled out to challenge Ard Na Greine (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) at the top of the stretch, the $750,000 KEESEP yearling gained a slight edge at the quarter pole and outgamed that experienced rival as they pulled clear in the drive to the line to win by 3/4 lengths.
