  NAAS, 4.20, Mdn, 18,500, 2yo, 7fT, 1:26.15, gd/yl

Black Bear Island (Ire), C, 2, by Sadler's Wells

1st Dam: Kasora (Ire), by Darshaan (GB)
2nd Dam: Kozana (GB), by Kris (GB)
3rd Dam: Koblenza (Fr), by Hugh Lupus (Fr)

Black Bear Island was caught close home when second to the highly regarded Driving Snow (GB) in a hot Curragh maiden on debut July 13 and started at 2-7 to emulate his brother High Chaparral (Ire), 2x Ch. Turf Horse-US, Hwt. 3yo Colt-Eng & Ire at 11-14f, Hwt. Older Horse-Ire at 9.5-11f, MG1SW-Eng & Ire, MGISW-US, MG1SP-Fr, $5,391,888, in getting off the mark at the second attempt. Sharing the early lead, the bay was sent to the lead at the top of the stretch and one smack with Johnny Murtagh's whip was sufficient to ensure a four-length stroll as Dreamtheimpossible (Giant's Causeway) chased in vain. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, Eu16,783.
