Masterofthehorse was sent off the 11-10 favorite on debut at Naas July 23 despite the presence of the smart Gan Amhras (Ire). Stable companion Frozen Fire (Ger) won at this meeting 12 months ago, and the bay was hammered into 1-5 to add his name to the list of potential future Classic winners housed at Ballydoyle. Soon in front under Johnny Murtagh, he was always in control and, after inflicting the damage with a shake of the reins inside the final quarter, was eased close home to record a facile 4 1/2-length success from Initiation (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}). "He is a nice horse and could go far," his rider commented.
