Mani Bhavan showed only a pair of three-furlong drills on her worktab and was let go at 7-1, but belied those odds with an impressive performance. Breaking from the rail, the dark bay quickly built a clear lead through a :22.08 first quarter. Jockey Rosie Napravnik threw a cross at her entering the stretch and the Mike Ryan colorbearer responded, opening up to triumph by 9 1/4 lengths. Fellow firster Bon Jovi Girl (Malibu Moon) completed the exacta. A $30,000 KEESEP yearling, Mani Bhavan RNA'd for $95,000 at OBSFEB earlier this year. She hails from the family of 2004 champion sprinter Speightstown and Grade I winner Turk Passer. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000.
