3rd Dam: Bury the Hatchet, by Tom Rolfe

Discreet Treasure was a handful in the Belmont paddock and remained high-strung during the post parade. Things looked a little bleak for about the first 45 seconds of the race as well, as the half-brother to Pretty Wild (Wild Again), MSW & MGISP, $398,280; and Discreet Cat (Forestry), GISW-US & GSW-UAE, $1,694,180, was slow to find his stride and was a distant last. The Robsham homebred found his running shoes somewhere around the three-eighths marker, rocketing into contention. Inside for the stretch, he came out around a rival to lead passing the eighth pole and drew off to score by12 1/4 lengths under a mild hand ride. The dam of a two-year-old filly named Discreet Empire (Empire Maker), Pretty Discreet produced Discreetly Mine (Mineshaft) in 2007 and has a weanling full brother to Discreet Cat. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $31,200.
