Mr Mistoffelees was bought by pinhookers Ricky Leppala, Carl Bowling and Jill Jillian for $300,000 at last year's Keeneland September sale and the trio scored a nifty profit when the flashy dark bay colt made $1.5 million after breezing an eighth of a mile in an effortless :10 1/5 (video) at the Fasig-Tipton Calder sale two months ago. Sent off the 4-5 chalk to validate his pricetag, Mr Mistoffelees jumped fastest and got his opening quarter mile in :21.48. He opened up after four furlongs in :43.89 and drew off under his own courage to score by 9 1/4 lengths. Chapel Run (Chapel Royal) ran on late for second. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $31,255.
