Abby’s Angel made up ground late to finish third by 1 3/4 lengths in a local 5 1/2-furlong maiden Dec. 7. Armed with three sharp works in the interim and possessed of a stamina-laden pedigree, the dark bay was bet down to 4-5 in this off-the-turf contest and made that look like an overlay. In second early, the Stonerside homebred assumed command after a half and never looked back, winning by 14 3/4 lengths under a hand ride. Her unraced dam is a half-sister to GSWs Karen’s Caper (War Chant) and Miss Coronado (Coronado’s Quest). Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $27,690.
