Zenyatta was acquired for $60,000 as a yearling at KEESEP in 2005 before the exploits of her half-sister Balance (Thunder Gulch), MGISW, $1,048,491. Sent off at 5-1 for her belated debut, the rangy filly was content to caboose the field early. She got going on the turn, found clear sailing in the center of the track and was under a mild hand ride to post a three-length success over Carmel Coffee (Holy Bull). Zenyatta is also a half-sister to Where's Bailey (Aljabr), SW, $116,313. Still to come from Vertigineux are a yearling filly by Pulpit who sold for $550,000 at Keeneland September; and a 2007 colt by Giant’s Causeway. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,200.
