Unbridled Elaine, upset victress of the 2001 GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Belmont Park, was purchased by Darley for $4.4 million with this colt in-utero at the 2004 Keeneland November Sale. Etched hinted at some ability in his a.m. drills, including a :59 3/5 five-furlong bullet at Belmont Sept. 4. Not much of a secret at 7-5 here, he was a close fourth through an opening quarter of :22.21, revved up to the front while wide on the turn for home and ran away and hid from ‘em. It was 6 3/4 lengths back to Honour Above Self (With Approval) in second. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $31,200.
