Bay Area-based owner Harry Aleo and trainer Greg Gilchrist have a pretty good record with stock acquired at OBS, including the ill-fated champion Lost in the Fog, Victorina and Frisco Star. They are represented this year by multiple-graded stakes winner Smokey Stover (Put It Back), purchased at Fasig-Tipton's Midlantic Sale. This filly, by the sire of the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint hopeful, was bought for $135,000 at OBSAPR earlier this year. Despite several sharp morning drills and Gilchrist's record of five wins from his first seven starters at the meet, High Resolve went postward at a relatively generous 4-1. She certainly won't be that price again. The iron grey came away smoothly from the rail, assumed command with a :21.44 opening quarter and drew away under a motionless Luis Contreras to post a nine-length triumph. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $18,000.

O: Harry J Aleo | B: Steve & Bryan Tucker (FL) | T: Greg Gilchrist
