  J Be K, C, 2, by Silver Deputy

1st Dam: Major Wager (GSP, $189,616), by Valid Wager
2nd Dam: Amidst, by Icecapade
3rd Dam: Ambo, by Olden Times

J Be K trained with promise over Del Mar’s Polytrack and over this main track since his arrival and was sent off the tepid favorite at odds of 7-2. Quickly into stride from the outside stall, the dark bay got his opening half-mile in :44.88 and opened it up down the lane, scoring by 7 1/2 lengths from Mr. Shortcake (Cactus Ridge). The winner was a $125,000 KEESEP yearling and $350,000 FTFFEB juvenile. "I thought we would break his maiden when we got to Belmont," trainer Bob Baffert admitted. "I figured he could run, but I thought he needed the race." The final time of 1:03.13 eclipsed the previous track record of 1:03.26 set by Secret Gypsy Aug. 16. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $37,200.
