Cry and Catch Me’s runner-up finish in her debut over Hollywood’s Cushion Track July 1 gained luster when the winner of that race, Tasha’s Miracle (Harlan’s Holiday), came back to take the GIII Sorrento S. by daylight. Moved from Craig Dollase’s barn to Bob Baffert’s in the interim and hammered down to 3-5 favoritism with that filly’s name in her running lines, Cry and Catch Me looked every bit an odds-on pick in this auspicious second outing. The $150,000 KEESEP yearling raced just off the leaders up the backstretch, powered to the lead nearing the quarter pole and lengthened away to win in hand by 6 1/4 lengths. Royal Humor (Distorted Humor) completed the exacta. Cry and Catch Me is the first foal out of the durable, versatile Please Sing in, who banked $ 324,446 while winning seven of 33 starts in four years on the track. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $41,000.
