Hot on the heels of His Highness The Aga Khan’s Minted (Fr) posting an impressive first-up win at Chantilly July 23, Beret Rouge enhanced his owner-breeder’s burgeoning juvenile portfolio with an exquisite debut performance of his own here. The grey was not shy of support at the tills and moved smoothly in third after an alert break, but lost no ground when shuffled back to fourth at halfway. Easing outside at the quarter-mile pole, the 3-5 favorite wandered under pressure when sent in pursuit of Tayseer (GB) (Medicean {GB}) approaching the final eighth, but exuded class once gathered together and cruised clear of that rival to score by an eyecatching three lengths. Lifetime Record: 1 start, 1 win, Eu10,500. O: H H The Aga Khan | B: H H The Aga Khan’s Studs SC | T: Andre Fabre |
