Minted’s reputation preceded him to the extent that punters hammered the Andre Fabre trainee into favoritism at the kiosks and he did not disappoint his many supporters by producing a debut performance of sheer class to give hope for higher tasks to come. Breaking smartly from a wide box to settle in the wake of the leading pair, the grey eased outside in readiness for his challenge upon passing the quarter-mile marker. Settling the contest in a matter of strides when quickening by rivals to lead approaching the final furlong, the 4-5 selection was pushed clear with the minimum of fuss to account for Un Rendez Vous (Fr) (Priolo) by an impressive five lengths.
