Fresh off a four-furlong move in :49 1/5 at Aqueduct May 10, Ascot Hall was let go at 6-1 for this first at bat. Off a step slowly and over 10 lengths behind down the backstretch, the dark bay swung wide for the drive, collared early leader Brooke’s Valentine (Fusaichi Pegasus) in deep stretch and inched away to win by 3/4 of a length over the 2-5 favorite. The $200,000 FTKJUL yearling purchase is the first winner for his freshman sire (by Mr. Prospector). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,800.
