Mr. Rowdy, a $220,000 KEENOV weanling and a $190,000 FTKJUL yearling, was working smartly at Keeneland for his debut, posting a five-furlong move in 1:00.40 Apr. 16 and a four-furlong breeze in :47.80 Apr. 23. Backed accordingly at 6-5, he sat close to the leaders through :22.01 and :45.55 fractions following a slow beginning from the six hole. With John Velazquez in the irons, he gained a short lead at the top of the stretch, ducked out sharply following a left-handed crack by Velazquez in mid-stretch, but straightened out to draw away smartly by 4 1/2 lengths. Roi Maudit (Elusive Quality) completed the exacta at 5-2. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,018.
