Exhale sold for $72,000 as a KEENOV weanling and for $100,000 as a FTKJUL yearling, then was hammered down for $800,000 as a FTFFEB juvenile 11 months ago. Debuting against a good one in Notional, recent winner of the GII San Rafael S., Exhale finished second by 2 1/2 lengths to that rival in a Santa Anita maiden Oct. 21. Working well for his second outing, Exhale was sent off the hot 1-5 choice and stamped himself a horse to watch with a dazzling performance. In an ideal tracking spot along the rail, the colt, under jockey Corey Nakatani, switched to the outside with two furlongs to run and powered away to a five-length victory. The 13-1 Tycoon Doby (Cherokee Run) was second. "I was very impressed," said Nakatani. "He gets bigger and stronger every time I ride him." Exhale is a half to Pricearose (Repriced), MGSP, $276,218; and to the good sprinter Private Horde (Brunswick), GSW, $756,461. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $35,600.
