Shorthand broke well, but was reined back to settle under cover in seventh until the three-furlong pole. Angled around rivals approaching the final quarter mile, the 13-2 chance quickened to the front for Kerrin McEvoy with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining. The bay was pushed out before gearing down late to account for Gull Wing (Ire) (In the Wings {GB}) by 1 1/4 lengths in taking style. Shorthand is half-sister to Seductress (GB) (Known Fact), SW & GSP-GB; Whitewater Affair (GB) (Machiavellian), Hwt. Older Mare-GB at 11-14f, Hwt. Older Mare-Ire at 14+f, GSW & G1SP-GB, GSW-Fr, G1SP-Ire, $256,733; and Little Rock (GB) (Warning {GB}), MGSW-GB, G1SP-Ity & GSP-Fr, $264,779. She is also a full sister to this year’s Classic-placed filly Short Skirt (GB), GSW & MG1SP-GB, $273,613. "She comes from a very good family, all of whom liked some juice in the ground," Sir Michael Stoute's travelling head groom Jimmy Scott told Racing Post. "Kerrin gave her time to get a good rhythm going and she picked up well for him in the end. I don't know if she'll race again this year, but she looks a nice filly for next season." Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, £3,886. O: J M Greetham | B: J M Greetham | T: Sir Michael Stoute |
