Haatef is from a family Kevin Prendergast knows well, having trained his smart full sisters Ulfah (MSW-Ire, $185,915) and Walayef (GSW-Ire, $116,576). Sent off at 5-1, the homebred was settled in mid-division early before being taken wide to find racing room passing halfway. Quickening down the outer, he rolled by Naigani (Storm Cat) with 150 yards remaining before asserting to record an authoritative 1½-length success. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, Eu13,020.
