  GOODWOOD, Race 5, Mdn, 16,000, 2yo, f, 7fT, 1:25.24, gd/fm

Cumin, F, 2, by Fusaichi Pegasus

1st Dam: User Cat, by Storm Cat
2nd Dam: User Friendly (GB), by Slip Anchor (GB)
3rd Dam: Rostova (GB), by Blakeney (GB)

Cumin was runner-up to subsequent G2 Cherry Hinton S. runner-up Alzerra (UAE) in a Haydock maiden on debut June 9 before finishing sixth from a high draw after a troubled trip in the June 24 Listed Chesham S. at Royal Ascot. Second again to Medicine Path (GB) at York last time July 14, the $600,000 KEEJAN yearling was beginning to look exposed, but punters kept the faith and she started this race as the 7-2 joint-favorite. Soon on the lead, she was in total control in the straight and was never in any danger to record an impressive seven-length score. "She’s pretty tough and I don’t think she was 100 percent last time, as she came back with spots on her neck," trainer Barry Hills’ son and assistant Charlie explained. "She ran well at Royal Ascot and now she’ll hopefully run in the G1 Fillies’ Mile [at Ascot Sept. 23]." The winner’s second dam, a champion in Britain and France, won the G1 Epsom Oaks and G1 Irish Oaks. Lifetime Record: 4-1-2-0, £14,015.
