Principle Secret had been working smartly for his career opener, going five furlongs in a bullet :58 4/5 out of the gate at Hollywood July 1 and most recently dashing off a half in :47 1/5 July 15. Sent off the 2-1 chalk, he pressured Edwardian (Awesome Again) for three furlongs, put a head in front at midstretch and opened it up late to score by 4 3/4 lengths. Firster Horse Greeley (Mr. Greeley), who put in a solid middle move, nosed out Edwardian for second. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $31,800.
